Saturday morning we were off to Strathroy for a battle of the two blacks. With Brent making his goaltending debut and Liam at wing, and Ashton home with the flu, we took to the ice with a different look, but with the same determination and spirit. Both players did well in their new spots, with Brent making key saves, and Liam with his strong drive to the net.
Although Jace keep firing shot after shot at their goalie, we were
unable to sneak one in. Everyone played an outstanding game, and Hayden
could not resist showing some leg to the fans in the stands. But it
was Evan’s excellent back checking and the way he handled shuffling from
defence to forward that earned him the worker of the game hat. Final
score Preds 0 – Strathroy 8.
Sunday we were back home for a re-match against Mt. Brydges
gold. With a last minute line change, Liam stepped up and was back in
goal to fill in for Jace who was at home in bed with the flu. Our offence
came out strong and carried the play for most of the game, and received
excellent support from our defence, Matthew, Abby, Rayna and Ben.
It was an excellent game with lots of chances at both ends of the ice, and
everyone was working well as a team. Our lone goal was scored by Brent,
but it was Hannah’s hard work in the corners and along the boards that earned
her the worker of the game hat. Final score, Preds 1 – Mt Brydges 6.
