What a great weekend it was for our Novice Black team, starting Saturday with a lunch date with the Mt. Brydges Red Cougars. Our Preds came out looking great, with lightening speed and gritty determination. Liam again was a wall between the pipes and was excellent when called upon. Jace kept it close, with a second period goal that would fool the likes of any NHL goal tender, while Taylor was our first player to take home the worker of the game hat, with his never give up attitude and excellent back checking. Final score, Preds 1 Cougars 4.
Sunday was a different story, with East Lambton White
dropping by for an afternoon battle. With not only the game on the line,
our young Preds were now eyeing up the new worker of the game hat, which coach
Rob spent hours upon hours creating. It was clear from the opening
faceoff, that our Preds were on a mission, they controlled the play and
had chance after chance, firing everything they had at East Lambton’s
goalie. With a 1 - 1 game early in the 2nd our Preds
decided it was time to show our fans what were made of. They took control
and never looked back playing an excellent team game with hard work, excellent
defensive and offensive positioning and of course stand up goaltending.
In the end Ashton took home the hat and a hat trick to seal the victory.
Goals were scored by: Ashton (3), Brent, Evan. Final score Preds 5, East
Lambton 1.
