Compete Level Rising
The Atom hockey club was scheduled to play against their most formidable opponents in the last portion of the regular season. Tuesday in Exeter was no exception. Our players have managed little success over the past several seasons against the South Huron Sabres. The coaching staff have been anticipating these games as a gauge of the team's development. The Preds have demonstrated marked improvement in key skill priorities that were set out at the beginning of the season. One of the the overall goals of the program was to extend the compete level of each team member.
Both clubs team exchanged scoring chances, minimized secondary scoring opportunities, but most importantly the pace and determination of the Atoms illustrated another level of development. The teams were tied at 0's after the first, and after the second period. The Sabres managed a couple scrum goals early in the third. The coaching staff was pleased with the effort, but were hopeful for a few bounces. Coach Smith is confident that this hockey club has the skill and compete level to play with the stronger Shamrock clubs. Hats off to South Huron for a 2-0 victory.
Thanks to parents for preparing your kids to play and supporting the program. You have also helped the Predators roar.
