NOVICE REP WIN CHRIS KNOTT MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT IN SAUGEEN SHORES
NOVICE REP WIN 'B' CHAMPIONSHIP IN SAUGEEN SHORES
This past weekend our Novice Rep team headed to Port Elgin to compete in
the Chris Knott Memorial Tournament. Our boys met with the North
Middlesex Stars in our first game and held several leads throughout the
game but eventually fell 4-3. The boys woke up early Saturday morning to
face a tough Kincardine squad who was undefeated on the season. The
team jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead but ran into some penalty trouble
and fell behind in second. The team fought back but lost in the last few
minutes 6-5. The team quickly regrouped after two tough one goal losses
and defeated the host team Saugeen Shores 4-1 to earn a spot in the
semi-finals against Byth-Brusslels, a team who defeated North Middlesex
earlier in the day to earn their spot in the semi-finals. In their third
game of the day, our Predators showed true grit and determination to
defeat Blyth -Brussels and punch their ticket to the finals in a rematch
against Kincardine. After some pizza, pool parties and pelting coach
Luke with nerf guns our boys got a good nights sleep and prepared for
the championships game. In that game our team showed the true character
of our club by playing a sound team game and putting great pressure on
the Kinucks up and down the ice. Oliver Parsons stole the show with many
great saves frustrating the opposition at every opportunity. Goals by
Colton Peters and Nolan Koolen provided enough offence for our team to
come out on top, handing Kincardine their first loss of the season by a
2-1 score. The coaching staff can not say enough about how proud we are
of ALL of our team for their heart, hard work and great teamwork. Great
job this weekend boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
