Predators face Lucan in possible OMHA play-down match up
The Atom Rep Team sure had to work out a good game plan today when they faced the mighty Lucan Atom Rep Team!

With just 14 seconds into the first period, Lucan scored their first goal. With only 8:40 left in the first period, Connor Reitknecht got his first break away but Lucan’s goalie was ready and waiting! The fast pace wouldn’t scare off Connor as he teamed up with Connor Gunn and went deep into the corner trying to get the puck back to the point! With only 56 seconds left in the first period, Lucan rushed the puck into our end eluding our defense. Lucan tried to make it an early 3‐0 with only 16 seconds left on the clock but Rogan Sands charged in and stopped the breakaway. The score remained 2‐0 heading into the second period.
Lucan tried to make it 3‐0 until they met our firecracker Nash Thomas who did his nifty stick check and sent the puck spiraling out of control. The puck found its way back in our end at 7:49 and again at 5:15 to make it 4‐0. At 5:02 Jace Hendricks was held against the boards but there was no penalty called so he iced the puck. Lambton Shores answered back with Jack Van Gorp sniping his first goal of the game making it 4‐1. The Preds picked up the pace but the green jerseys came storming down the ice once again with only 2:29 left in the second period and scoring making it 5‐1. Logan Chapman made another save with only 27 seconds left in the second period. With only 2 seconds left in the second period Alex George fired on in from the blue line which was saved by the buzzer.
The third period brought on the feistiness with our Preds and we were called for 3 penalties ranging from body contact, tripping, and roughing. With 13:22 on the clock, Brooklyn VanReil meant business as she fore checked hard and stopped a breakaway. At 9:56, Jack Van Gorp was slammed into the boards which drew a body contact penalty. Out on Jacks next shift, he scored another goal making it 5‐2! Playing shorthanded, Lucan answered back making it 6‐2 but that wasn’t going to stop the Atoms Family as Jace Hendricks fires one in making it 6‐3! With only 5.9 seconds left on the clock, Lucan scored their final goal making it 7‐3.
Logan stopped two goals in the first period, two in the second and five in the third period.
Jack Van Gorp scored two goals, and Jace Hendricks scored one. Ben Schoonjans got two assists from the point, Brent Scotchmer got one assist.
It is fair to say that each and every player on the Atom Team stopped at least two opportunities for Lucan to score! Way to go Preds!!!
