Predators Head North
Friday Oct.23rd the Atom Rep Predators headed north to Shallow Lake to compete in the 2nd Annual Laker Weekend.

Friday night the Predators took to the ice late to show their skills to the Muskoka Rock. The Predators skated hard and kept a strong attack for 35 full minutes out shooting the Rock 70-6. Other than being short handed for half of the second period the Preds were firing on all cylinders. final score 7-0 Lambton Shores, leading the way in scoring was Hendrickx and Stewy with 2 goals each. Bomber, Sand Man, Bull Dog round out the scoring.

Saturday had the Preds in another late game so the team and family took a trip down to the local bowling alley. Fun was had by all.  Coach D supplied a trophy for the champ which came down the wire between AG, Gunner and Hendrickx.  Gunner pulled ahead of AG late with a final score of 91... Hendrickx had a chance to over take him with one last frame but came up 2 points short giving the championship to Gunner, the rookie line centre.

After Bowling the team enjoyed an awesome Taco Bar back at the hotel, big thanks to all that brought food and for Lorna for the great idea. Right after we ate the team and siblings had a blast competing in the minute to win it events. Everyone was split into 4 groups and laughter was heard all through-out the hotel.

Finally came the time to strap the skates on.... After being an hour and half behind and starting the game close to 9 the newly amalgamated Central Perth was the team the Preds had their sights set on next.  Right away we knew we were in for a much tougher task.  Scotchy opened up the scoring with a bar down shot from the slot. a couple minutes later Central Perth tied it up, 1-1 after 1. A determined Hendrickx flew down the ice and found the back of the net to make it 2-1 after 2. Some good stops by Bear kept the opposition off the board the rest of the way and Gorpie and Hendrickx added a couple more making the final 4-1 Predators.

After getting back to the hotel around 10:30 Saturday night curfew was set ASAP. Sunday morning came early being the first game having start at 7:50. The game was said to be a final as both teams came in undefeated. The Brock Wild looked poised to defend as the previous years' champs. Lambton Shores looked tired but got their "work boots" on and battled hard. Despite an early goal by Gunner The Wild managed to get 7 past a hard working Bear. Final score 7-1 Wild.

A good test for the players and better yet a good team bonding weekend for both the parents and players.

Sour Key players of the game:

A special thanks to all the parents for the laughs and big shout out goes to Rhonda, Bang Bang Brian & Rob and Michelle for making the weekend one I will never forget.
