LSMHA Goalie Development - " NEW" for 2015/16
Submitted By Todd Rannie on Wed 09 16, 15
The LSMHA Development Committee and the Minor Hockey Board has been working hard since the end of last season to identify areas that could be improved on within our organization for the upcoming season. At the end of last year we asked the parents and the older aged players to fill out a Coaches/Association Evaluation form. We would like to thank those that took the time to fill them out, they were filled out in a very professional manner and we received a lot of positive feedback and comments. One of the questions we received was "Will LSMHA be having goalie clinics this upcoming year?"

The answer to that is " YES "....We are happy to announce that Paul Burgess Goalie Consulting has been recruited to instruct regular goalie clinics for all LSMHA goalies. The LSMHA Development Committee is going to be encouraging all Head Coaches and their entire bench staff to attend those clinic's. The clinics will not only benefit our goalies but it will give the coaches an opportunity to pick up some more goal tending resources which they can take back to their own teams practice.

In order to justify the future need for these clinics we are asking for your help....If you could please take advantage of these free clinics and try and make every effort to attend. By you doing that it will certainly show that you as parents have an interest in furthering the development of your son or daughter. By having a strong attendance record it will certainly make our Committee's job easier getting our goalies the additional resources they need.....THANKS

In addition to the goalie clinic's this season,  the LSMHA Development Committee would like to implement a new idea this coming season. Our Development Committee's idea is to put together a Goalie Coach Mentorship program.

We are happy to announce that Sean Parker has offered to fill the role of being the  LSMHA Head Goalie mentor. Sean brings a wealth of hockey knowledge with him and has an very impressive hockey resume. Sean has played at a very high level in Junior hockey and is up to date with the lastest in goal tender development.

Sean will be there to help support what is being taught at the goalie clinics that Paul Burgess will be conducting this season. Sean will also provide any guidance to any of the LSMHA coaches or bench staff in need of assistance. By providing some drills and words of advice for the coaches in need it will certainly help in the development of our goalies.

Also, we would like to see if any of the older aged goalies would be interested in helping out with this program. By having older aged goalies "temporarily available" to go out on the ice and work first hand with the younger goalies would be really beneficial. This would be a great way for the older goalies to achieve some of their High School Volunteer hours also.

This season's goalie clinic's will begin:

Monday September 21

5:00pm to 6:30pm

The Legacy Recreation Centre

If anyone has any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me or Sean Parker.
