PREDATORS REPRESENT WELL IN BRANTFORD
The Bantams traveled to Brantford to participate in the St.George Jack Tolhurst Memorial Tournament on October 18-20.

To go in a tournament and have 14 teams to compete against is unheard of anymore.  Thats what the Preds faced when going to the Jack Tolhurst Memorial Tournament.  with 4 divisions, you had to be the top team in your division to compete on Sunday in a semi-final.

Friday started off against Huron-Bruce (Lucknow/Ripley).  A very close tight game that had our team out shoot our opponents by 20.  1-1 with 23 seconds left when Huron-Bruce caught a lucky bounce and scored to make it 2-1 final.  Player of the game - Tanner George

Saturday had us in a must win both games situation to have a chance at Sunday's semifinal!!

Our first game had us up against the favorite Shelburne Wolves.  Our Predators dominated in every aspect of the game.  From hits, play in their end, shots and goaltending we dominated the board winning 3-1.  A late goal while defending a 6-4 gave the Wolves their only goal with a minute to go.  Player of the Game - Ethan George

Our second game was against a familiar foe, Goderich Sailors.  Having beat them 6-0 in Exhibition we knew we had to come out with the mentality we lost to them 6-0 and to work hard from start to finish.  Thats exactly what we did scoring within the first minute to set the tone.  Final score 5-1.  Player of the game - Rogan Sands

The two wins put us in a tie with Shelburne but because we beat them we got to move on to the semi-final.

Sunday's semi-final had us up against the Hanover Falcons.  Hanover was in a division with East Lambton and South Kent, to which they beat both.  We knew were in tough but came into the game determined.  Both teams traded goals throughout the game but unfortunately the Falcons put up the last goal winning 4-3.  Player of the Game - Brett Dickey

Coaches going into a tournament, especially the first one, want to see a different level of effort put into the game.  That's exactly what we got.  It was a welcomed sight to see us so competitive even with teams that have a majority of "second year bantams".  The team is definitely heading in the right direction!  A total team effort was the highlight of the weekend, as noticed by the tough decisions the parents had when selecting the players of the games.
