STING/OHL EXPERIENCE DAY ONE TO REMEMBER
January 2nd, 2016....It was like any other day.

Except for the over 200 fans and 29 player's involved in the Atom Cup Challenge. The idea was to have a inter-squad game before a Sting game, then it blossomed something much more than that.  After seeking a few sponsor's (A HUGE THANK YOU GOES OUT TO 1256 CARPENTERS UNION, BGROW INC, ZAVITZ GENERAL STORE, CIBC THEDFORD, BOSCO AND ROXY'S AND PLANET STITCH FOR SPONSORING THE EVENT) the table was set to make just a inter-squad game much more than that.

When the player's arrived they each got a welcome bag with water, Gatorade, a skate towel, tee shirt, and a toque.  They then made their way to the "interview area" after they dropped off their equipment to the room.  Some very well rehearsed interviews and some very funny off the cuff interviews were had with the DSN interviewer (Justine Dickey, Dickey Sports Network).  In the dressing room a table was set up for team tape and water.  Once dressed the players were announced onto the ice one by one.  The players, staff and welcomed guests then had a big picture with the Atom Cup.  A ceremonial puck drop with team White Captain Lola Tuch, Red Captain Brett Dickey, LSMHA Head Coach Greg Garside and LSMHA Developmental Committee Atom Rep Ted McCaHill.

The Game... Filled with many great passes, great shots, great saves and awesome goals (and misses... Sorry Brett). The players played their hearts out as they traded goals and when the dust finally settled Team Red came out on top with a close 5-4 score.

During the game selected parents were asked to vote on a MVP for both teams.  The MVP selected won authentic Sting full back hat autographed by the Sting.

Congrats to:  Team White MVP - Jace Hendrickx (Jimmy) and Team Red MVP Jack Nieuwenhuizen (Bull Dog)

Also 2 random players were given a sting shirt autographed by the team.

Congrats to: ShayLynn George and Logan Chapman

Also a big congrats to Heather George for winning the Best Fan Prize, an awesome assortment of Dogs treats donated by Lorna Nieuwenhuizen.

The kids had an awesome time and parents looked like to be having a lot of fun too.  The Sting lost in OT but their game was good too (Not as fun to watch as ours though lol)

A special Thank You goes to Brad Ginn and Rhonda VanGorp who were both seen running all over the place making all our special memories last forever on video and pictures, through Go Pros on Helmets to footage of interviews and pictures of the days events.

A huge Thank You goes out to all that volunteered their time, helped at the rink and helped get sponsorship and prizes.  Without you I couldn't have done this.
