Tournament Triumphs
The Atom LL entered two tournaments in the mid season. Early in December, the Atomstravelled to Staynor. Predators won the first game on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Barrie. Goals were scored by Carmen Kewageshig (16) and Alicia Kewageshig (15).
The scond game of the day was cklose and resulted in a 1-0 loss to Lefoy.
Sunday morning the Atoms were faced with a `must win`to advance to the finals. The players, coaches, parents and grandparents were pumped for the exciting action that the Atoms usually deliver. And deliver they did! Schomberg was the opponent of the morning. Predtors opened the scoring with a bullet from the blue line by Lindon Scalf (6). Predators held the lead until late in the second when Schomberg tied it up. Schomberg scored the next goal making the score 2-1. Predator hope was kept alive when Ryker Vandenbroek (8) scored to tie it at 2-2. This was the final score and no one knew our fate. Our plus minus average was .47 and Schomberg`s was .45. Predators move on to the final!
The final game was played against Port Carling. This was a hard fought game which we lost 5-1. The kids pressed on and played their best against an challenging team. Netminder Sammy Dobroski stood out for this game, stopping several breakaway chances! All in all it was a great tournament and the kids got to take home some hardwear! Way to go Preds!
