Atom Preds on the Prowl...
Fired up by last wek-ends wins, the Atom LL Preds were ready for their next challenge: Mt. Brydges Blue. End to end action kept fans on their toes all game long. Early on in the game Hunter Cable (#11) put one in the Mt. Brydges net to take an early lead. Mt. Brydges answered back with a goal of their own. Ferocious activity by both teams couldn't decide a winner and this match was a draw, 1-1.
Sunday evening the Preds took on Strathroy Red at home in Thedford and it was another edge of your seat match! Strathroy was on the board first, but the Preds answered a few minutes later when Hunter Cable (#11) scored. Late in the first Strathroy scored again and we started the second down by one goal.
The second period featured back to back action, making this match either team's game! Patrick Stewart (#20) scored at 6:35 of the second, evening the score. Not long after, Strathroy scored to put themselves the lead again, only to be answered back by Logan Stewart (#14). Logan's goal tied the game up 3-3 heading into the third and final period.
Strathroy once again took the lead in the third with back to back goals, putting the score at 5-3 and putting the pressure on the Preds! This is a team that fights back hard when they are down, and fight they did! Goalie Sammy "The Wall" Dobroski's quick work kept us in the game. Defense worked hard to shut down Strathroy's scoring chances and the forwards pressed on. Our final goal was scored at 6:28 of the third by Alicia Kewageshig (#15) making the final score 5-4 Strathroy.
