It was a fun filled weekend of hockey for the Novice Red
team .We travelled to Point Edward for a very exciting game. The team never let up, we ended with a loss
of 4-2. A Goal scored by Sands with the
assist from DeCaluwe and a goal by Van Gorp Assisted by Scott. The entire team played very well with lots of
chances to put the puck in the net , we will
continue to work on this in practice.
Our second game of the weekend was at home against Mount Brydges White, a team we lost 6-4 to in October. Novice Red Preds were ready for the game with the first goal at minute thirty into the first period by Van Gorp. The Cougars tied it at the half way point of the first period. The only goal scored in the second period was a Pred’s goal from DeCaluwe. The Cougars kept pressing with their second of the game to tie it back up. The Preds wouldn’t stop, they wanted the WIN and Van Gorp put the go ahead in the net with just under 2 minutes left in the game. Then a reassuring goal by Van Gorp for his HAT TRICK to give the well deserved Novice Red their second win of the season. Our win today was more than just scoring goals, it was a complete team effort. Final score Novice Red 4 – Mt. Bridges 2. Goal tending was great this weekend by Zavits-Low, standing strong all weekend. The defense Dickey, Shepherd, Anderson and Shepherd played fantastic both days holding the line and clearing our house. The forwards; Trickett, Wilcox, Sands, George, Wellington, DeCaluwe, VanGorp, Scott, and Chapman are really starting to see how playing their positions will pay off . Great weekend Novice Red keep up the Hard Work.
