Huron vs Erie
The Battle for Great Lakes Supremacy took place in Pt. Stanley today, with Lambton Shores taking on the Sailors.  The Predator coaching staff took some time to study the first place Lake Erie club, last week, and knew this weekend's game was going to be a challenge for the Atoms.  It was a certainty that the high skilled Shipmen would put our defense and netminder to the test.  The Preds responded with a gritty determination and their own brand of skilled, team play.  The Atom Club got the start they were looking for and were rewarded.  After 2 periods they earned a 3-0 lead.

The critical learning piece of the contest was the 3rd period. The Sailors exploded for 2 markers in the first 2.5 minutes of the period. Rather than fold or allow the team to lose focus, Coach Smith and his Assistant Coaches urged the players on. The players responded, and the final 12 minutes had all the hallmarks of playoff hockey.

Caden G. put a puck on net and demonstrated that good things happen when you shoot, to earn the critical 4th goal. Ty R. could have become rattled by the Pt. Stanley assault, but maintained his composure to make timely, quality saves. The Preds 'D' were challenged by the speed of their opponents, but cut down the crucial second chance opportunities. Brandon (2), Andrew, Mitch, and Keegan were credited for the other red lights. Rhys, Greg and Bradyn were awarded with helpers. Penalty kill skills were also put to the test, and the players responded to the defensive challenge (Coaching Staff recognition goes to....Caitlyn, Karley, Taylor, Evan, Nic & Reid).

The coaching staff was appreciative of the parental involvement and their attempts to sway referee decisions. Our 'Official Team Howler' was in fine form, bending, but not breaking, the verbal boundaries.

Exciting hockey Atoms!  For everyone at the game, it was great to be a part of it!
